Independent State of Samoa 20240522

international education / 2024-08-24 / Count: 18

Today we are not preaching, we are here to pass on culture!

I am very happy to invite Romeo from Samoa and Ian from the United States to come to Dongshan Junior High School to share Maori culture.

Following the cultural sharing of the animated film "Madagascar", another animated masterpiece "Moana" is about the Maori culture of Samoa, a small Pacific island located in the east of Australia, and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who serves as the voice, and "Moana" Jason Moria, the protagonist of The Hero, also has Samoan ancestry, and Maori and Taiwanese aborigines also have similar cultural footprints in some literature discussions.

The Independent State of Samoa has 9 small islands with a population of approximately 220,000. The main language is Samoan, which belongs to the Austronesian language family. From Europe, America, Asia, and Africa, today Dongzhong has finally extended its world travel footprint to Oceania. From sharing, we learned about Samoa’s geographical location, special food, traditional festivals, and special Maori culture. Local people were pulled directly from the world map to give us the most down-to-earth world geography lesson. By the way, this can be regarded as another mode of bilingual geography class! (Narrated by Romeo, translated by Ian)

We have made reservations with Romeo for the next bilingual dance class "Maori Haka" and bilingual physical education class "Rugby". We welcome everyone to come to class if you have the opportunity.
